10/27/2006 2:51 PM:  Handango gets worse...

GibbsUSA.net smilie: mad I thought that Handango couldn't stoop any lower when they introduced a "fee" if you want to download products that you previously bought through them (especially if the developers offer their "upgrades" via the downloads)...but I was wrong! GibbsUSA.net smilie: weeping

The following article "Handango Closes My Account and Reneges on Raffle Prize!" shows how bad this company is getting...

Make sure you follow the link to the forum- there is a lot more information about this!

I for one have finished doing business with Handango and feel better for it! GibbsUSA.net smilie: smile

10/25/2006 9:05 AM:  WebGuide4...amazing!

GibbsUSA.net smilie: wink Having a Windows Media Center 2005 PC I downloaded and installed WebGuide3 the moment it was available. This allowed me to review and schedule recordings via the internet...well now the product has evolved to say the least!

WebGuide4 introduces:

- Schedule recordings from any web browser
- Quick installation and familiar easy-to-use interface
- Access your own MCE PC which means live scheduling without delays
- Provides LAN-based access to recorded TV shows via networked PCs with playback in Windows Media Player
- Homepage provides quick access to recent and upcoming recordings
- Search results grouped by show or date/time
- Set manual recordings and adjust the settings of scheduled recordings
- Access your Music, Pictures and Videos for viewing and streaming over the Internet
- PocketPC and Smartphone enabled EPG
- Localized languages include: Danish, Dutch, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Norwegian, Spanish and Swedish

I have personally used the streaming of recorded TV to my Pocket PC and I love the idea of being able to get to my music wherever I am on the internet! GibbsUSA.net smilie: smile

While WebGuide3 was completely free, some of the advanced features of WebGuide4 require payment- but only $15!!!

10/21/2006 6:57 PM:  Symbian, Blackberry, Palm or Windows Mobile?

GibbsUSA.net smilie: confused When I left the UK, my PDA consisted of a Psion Series 5mx. This was an AMAZING device...but Psion were big in Europe and not America. America had Palm.

The past five years have seen leaps and jumps in technology- with the two main players becoming Palm and Microsoft. Now even Palm are offering devices running the Windows Mobile OS! GibbsUSA.net smilie: grin

I have to confess that ever since I reluctantly gave up my Series 5 for a Casio Cassiopia (it was not my choice), I cannot regret that decision now. Having a fully converged device is a must for me...this is coming from someone who cannot even remember his wife's birthday without the good old "beep-beep" weeks in advance (maybe I'm not that bad, but ask me what day my kids were born)...GibbsUSA.net smilie: tongue

I can only step back and wonder in awe what my children will be using...my only hope being that our dependence on these modern marvels does not dull our intelligence! GibbsUSA.net smilie: eek

10/10/2006 8:23 AM:  Have your phone "speak" to you for notifications

GibbsUSA.net smilie: cool AT&T Labs, Inc have produced a small demonstration application that will take text that you type and convert it to audio (WAV) files for use on Pocket PC and Smartphone devices...

- Text to Speach Demo (AT&T)

Be sure to read their limitations on use though before you release lots of audio files with your new .NET compact application! GibbsUSA.net smilie: tongue

10/4/2006 11:25 AM:  Bluetooth audio over mono headset?

GibbsUSA.net smilie: sad So here I am with my headset and I thought I would stream some music over it while I was waiting for a call...but NO, the new AD2P profile require that only a stereo headset can be used for transferring audio...or so it would seem...

Well, after some good 'ol Googling, I came across the following:

- Redirect ALL audio to Bluetooth Headset

Now, although not great quality, I can at least listen to music over my little BT headset! I'm a happy man! GibbsUSA.net smilie: grin
